As a result of the May 8, 2007 Citizens Information Meeting and continued coordination with the Project Steering Committee and area Stakeholders, the Design Team has begun engineering and designing the Hillsdale Drive Extension Project. In addition to the detailed engineering plans, we are preparing a series of Conceptual Plan Sketches throughout the corridor which will graphically depict the elements in the engineering plans. The intent of these Plan Sketches is to provide a clear and easy to understand picture of the proposed project and the many detail design elements. These design elements include the placement of sidewalk, parking and access points, the multi-use trail and potential landscaping considerations along with other area specific design features.
It is important to note that these many details are continuing to develop throughout the design process and that they are not yet finalized. As the design process progresses, these details will be further refined and reflected in the engineering plans which will be available for review at the Design Public Hearing.
The Conceptual Plan Sketch and the Conceptual Design Typical Section shown here are in the area of the new Hillsdale Drive Extension intersection with Greenbrier Drive. It depicts a traditional 4 way intersection with crosswalks and a new traffic signal. The Sketch also reflects a slight shift in location of the existing storm water management pond in this area to accommodate a new roadway section of Hillsdale Drive.
This new roadway section, which would be adjacent to the Rosewood Village property, is needed to line up the north and south approaches of Hillsdale Drive into a 4 way intersection with Greenbrier Drive.
The existing piece of roadway which currently functions as Hillsdale Drive and connects to Greenbrier Drive is planned to be reconfigured into a multi-use trail with a connection to the RFT Trail Head.
We sincerely hope that this information is useful in visioning the future of the Hillsdale Drive Extension Project. Please refer to the contact screen if you have any comments regarding the current conceptual plan.
