Welcome to the City of Charlottesville’s website for the Hillsdale Drive Extension Project. This site will be your source for information related to all of the project activities and public involvement opportunities. We hope you will review the project materials and the Steering Committee information regularly, and offer your comments and suggestions.

The Hillsdale Drive Extension is in the City's, County's and VDOT’s
6-Year Transportation Improvement Plan, as well as the regional Transportation
Improvement Plan (TIP) managed by the Metropolitan Planning Organization
(MPO). The purpose of the Location Study was to determine if there is
a feasible location for the extension of Hillsdale Drive from Greenbrier
Drive to Hydraulic Road.

In the City of Charlottesville's continuing effort to maintain open communication
with the public, the City held several public information meetings prior
to the formal Public Hearing where alignment alternatives, traffic data,
projects schedules and timelines were presented and comments received.
These comments were evaluated and incorporated into the final Hillsdale
Drive Extension Location Study Report.
On March 7, 2005, the City of Charlottesville passed a resolution approving the location of the proposed Hillsdale Drive Extension utilizing the Alternative "C" alignment. On July 21, 2005, the Commonwealth Transportation Board approved a new location corridor for the extension of Hillsdale Drive from Greenbrier Drive to Hydraulic Road in the City of Charlottesville.
