Whole Foods
For over three years, the City has been working with Whole Foods to relocate to the City and develop an empty lot that would be situated on the northeast quadrant of the future Hillsdale Drive Extended and Hydraulic Road intersection. The design was reached through cooperation between three distinctive property owners (Kroger, Virginia Dominion Power and Meadowbrook Creek, LLC) and the City. The design for this section demonstrate the benefits of Hillsdale Drive Extension - enhanced pedestrian/bicyclist facilities, refreshed aesthetics through landscaping, improved traffic operations for the public, and economic redevelopment. Road construction is nearing completion of the project’s southern termini and building construction is expected to be completed in Spring 2011. The Economic Development Authority will be reimbursing the developer the cost for roadway construction with a conservative estimate that the funding will be repaid in six years from anticipated sales/property tax from the new store.
Regal Seminole Square Cinema 4
The movie theater has announced its intentions to construct a new cinema in the 1st Phase of the Albemarle Place development. The City looks forward to working with Regal Cinema as they determine the future of their existing facility in Seminole Square. Please check back here for further news and how it may impact the roadway project.
Each of these developments are at different stages of completion and the project team is concentrating on coordinating various levels of detail due to the proximity of each of these developments to the Hillsdale Drive Extension Project. The project team has been working diligently to refine and advance the design where possible - utility coordination, landscaping plan, lighting/signalization plan, along with the soils and geotechnical report. We will continue to update you on the status of the project activities as they occur. Thank you again for your continued interest and support of this important project.
